Is saying "help me" and being helped by others also independence?
Yes. In common: the ability to ask for help appropriately when in trouble (help-seeking) is an important skill for independence and safety. Being able to say "help me" without bottling it up is not weakness but strength. A guide: can the child tell someone when they're in trouble? "Being able to ask for help" can matter even more than doing things alone.
