Practical Interaction
Is it okay to ask a disabled child's parent, "Is there anything I can help with?"
It's fine to ask. For many parents, a frank, equal offer is welcome. When the attitude of "so we can enjoy it together"—rather than a premise of "poor thing"—comes through, it makes for a good relationship. If they hold back, don't push; keep a relationship where you can offer again when needed.
