Is it better to learn using real objects and experiences rather than worksheets?

For many children, especially those who understand concretely, learning through real objects and experience is effective. Worksheets are abstract and can be hard to connect to meaning. Learning in daily life—amounts while cooking, money while shopping, numbers and signs on a walk—helps it stick with meaning. But worksheets have their place, so rather than "either/or," combine them: build on real objects and experience, and confirm with worksheets.
