Forgetting Things & Tidying

My child is bad at remembering things and tidying up.

Difficulty with forgetting things and tidying often comes from challenges in memory, planning, and organizing (executive function), not a motivation problem. Visible systems help: post a photo checklist of belongings by the door, decide a "home" for each item and attach photo labels, and prepare together the night before. Rather than scolding, the knack is letting a system do the remembering. Checking off when done, to show the achievement, keeps it going. Gradually widen the range the child manages.
