Approaching Weaknesses

Should I have my child practice their weak points over and over?

Just repeating drills can sap confidence and even strengthen a sense of being bad at something. What's effective: (1) narrowing to a task just below "can do," (2) breaking steps down to create success, (3) combining with strengths and likes, and (4) keeping it short and fun. Tying it to situations useful in life, or ones the child feels they need, helps it stick. There's no need to make everything on par with others; supplementing with tools and adjustments is often more realistic.
