Strengths vs Weaknesses
Which should I prioritize—developing strengths or practicing weaknesses?
Both matter, and there's no single ranking. What can be said in common: building on strengths and likes raises motivation and makes even weak areas grow more easily (a strengths-based approach). At the same time, weaknesses tied directly to life and safety (self-care, avoiding danger) are worth prioritizing. What the family decides: overall which to weight is your choice, based on the child's state and your values. A guide: "is that weakness causing trouble in life?" "can the strength grow further?" "is the child enjoying it?" Often it's not either/or, but using strengths as a doorway to also touch weaknesses.
