Meals and Sitting at the Table

During meals, my child leaves the table again and again, plays, then comes back. How can I teach them to sit and eat?

First, check whether their feet reach the floor or a footrest, whether mealtime is too long, and whether they're actually hungry at that time. Rather than "until you finish everything," start with a goal that has a visible end, such as one dish or 5 minutes. If they leave the table, don't chase after them to feed them—just say briefly, "When you come back, let's keep eating." It also helps for the family to agree on a signal that the meal is over and a routine for clearing up. If you're concerned about choking, strong food refusal, or weight gain, please consult a medical provider.
