Confidence & Enjoyment
My child doesn't want to practice in front of others / gets bored quickly.
Children with Down syndrome are said to tend to not want to do things they're not confident about in front of others. That's exactly why praising what they can do plenty and lifting their self-esteem is more important than anything.
And words and practice don't take hold unless they're fun. Don't make it a duty or homework — keep the energy high, be richly expressive, and do it within play. Even if the sounds or results don't come, keep building up the experience of "we had fun together."
