My child imitates only the end of words ("itadakimasu" → "su," "ringo" → "go").
This is the picture of a child doing their best to take in the *end* of the words they hear. When a long word streams by, they often catch only the last sound, and it's commonly seen during development.
There's no need to reproach them. Let them hear it slowly, briefly, and in segments, delivered in a form that's easy to catch, and little by little the parts they can take in will increase.
