Lying, Tummy Time & Crawling
When should tummy time start, and how much should we do?
Tummy time is supervised play while a baby is awake. It can begin when the baby comes home from the hospital. Start with short sessions, such as 3–5 minutes two or three times a day, and increase gradually as the baby becomes stronger and more comfortable. Try chest-to-chest or across your lap if floor tummy time is difficult. Keep it interactive and stop if the baby shows distress. For sleep, always place a healthy baby on their back on a firm, flat sleep surface.
