Is it okay to use a baby walker?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends not using round table-style baby walkers on wheels. There are two reasons: (1) they cause many serious accidents, such as falls down stairs, and (2) they don't help with walking practice and can actually delay when walking begins. In Canada, selling them is banned outright. To build walking skills, we recommend time to move freely on the floor, stable furniture to pull up on, and push-toys that don't take too much of the child's weight.
