Eating & Drinking (Feeding)
Meals take too long. At what point should I wrap it up?
A good guideline is 20 to 30 minutes. When it goes well beyond that, your child gets tired and becomes more prone to aspiration in the latter half, and mealtime itself turns into a "tiring time" for them. Once their focus breaks, it's okay to wrap up even if food is left. Switch to the mindset of making up the shortfall at the next meal or snack. Conversely, for a child who stops after just a few bites, review the amount and timing of snacks and milk to build a rhythm where they "come to the table hungry." Rather than letting meals drag on, having clear time limits and a good rhythm ultimately develops their ability to eat.
