HugMap FAQ
Working with Daycare & School

How can we come to an agreement with our child's daycare or school about using support tools like earmuffs or timers?

There are three key points: (1) share the purpose (it's not spoiling the child, it's a tool that helps them take part), (2) limit when it's used (only during hard moments like sports days or assemblies), and (3) explain concretely how it helps at home. If you're worried a classmate might say it's "unfair," talk with the teacher about how to explain it to the other children ("Just like glasses, this is a tool this child needs"). Setting a trial period and then reviewing how it went also makes it easier for the daycare or school to accept.
