Working with Daycare & School
What is "structuring"? Can I do it at home?
It's a general term for ways of making "when, where, what, how much, and what's next" clear in a form you can see (it was systematized in the TEACCH program for autism support and is used around the world). Things like matching places to activities (this is the place to play, this is the place to eat), showing the schedule with pictures or photos, and making endings easy to understand (once it's in the basket, we're done). At home too, you can start by keeping the places for play, meals, and sleep as consistent as possible, and by posting the flow of the day as pictures.
