My child dislikes being held or holding hands. Is it an attachment problem?

When a child has tactile sensitivity, the very sensation of being touched during a hug or hand-hold can feel uncomfortable — it doesn't necessarily mean a lack of affection or an attachment problem. Many children find a firm, snug hug easier to accept than a light, gentle touch. Cherish the physical affection your child initiates, and try to discover their preferences for how they like to be touched.
