Understanding vs talking — which comes first?
Usually understanding (receptive language) runs ahead of talking (expressive). "Not talking" doesn't mean "not understanding." Keep giving rich language input, honour gestures/signs/AAC as real communication, and don't wait for speech before treating your child as a full conversation partner.
