HugMap FAQ
Pronunciation, Articulation & Voice

People can't understand my child even when the words are there. What helps?

Slow down, one idea at a time, and pair speech with gesture, sign, or an AAC app. Use recasting — repeat back correctly without "correcting" ("wabbit" → "Yes! A rabbit!"). Cut background noise and keep hearing checked (glue ear is common). Intelligibility improves over years — keep talking rewarding, not stressful.
