Assessment, Support & When to Start Therapy
My child "can do it" during the assessment, but won't do it at home. Which one is the real picture?
What a child "can do" in the assessment room is different from what they usually "do" at home or at their childcare setting (the WHO's international classification makes this distinction too). The real goal is to increase what your child actually "does" in daily life. It's not at all unusual for a child to be able to do something yet not do it at home; when you set up the environment and the way you cue them, it gradually turns into something they "do."
