Self-Care (Toilet, Dressing & Hygiene)
What can help if my child cannot use a spoon or spills frequently?
Finger-feeding is a meaningful developmental experience and can help a child learn about texture, temperature, and size. For spoon practice, try a stable deeper bowl, a non-slip mat, and a spoon with a handle your child can grasp comfortably. Stable seating and foot support can make hand use easier, especially for a child with low muscle tone. Help only as much as needed and keep meals responsive rather than turning every bite into a test.
