At home, my child starts an activity but quickly moves to another toy. How can I make it easier for them to stay engaged?

Moving quickly between toys can sometimes be your child's way of exploring. First notice how long they usually stay with an activity they genuinely enjoy. If you want to adjust the environment, change one thing at a time: turn off the television, put out only two or three toys, or signal the ending with, “One more turn.” The goal is not simply to make play last longer, but to help it end comfortably for both of you. If similar difficulties affect preschool or other settings, comparing observations with the teacher may provide useful clues.
