HugMap FAQ
Standing & Walking

What if my child's heels stay raised when standing or walking?

Some young children briefly rise onto their toes while learning to stand and walk. Encourage varied play with safe opportunities for the whole foot to contact the floor; do not force the heels down. Ask a physiotherapist or doctor for advice if toe walking is persistent, mainly on one side, painful, associated with stiffness or loss of skills, or continues beyond the early walking period.
