Dressing (Buttons & Zippers)

What if my child cannot grasp a zipper pull?

Make the zipper pull larger by adding a safe ring, cord, or commercial zipper tab. At first, an adult can connect and stabilize the zipper while the child pulls it in one direction. Practice related pinch-and-pull actions through play, such as using clothespins or peeling large stickers. Check that any added loop cannot catch around the child's neck or fingers, and supervise practice.
