When your child can recite numbers but can't count

Count together while pointing at objects. "Saying numbers in order" and "understanding that there are 3" are two different things. While they're still figuring it out, don't bombard them with questions; nurture their sense of quantity by seeing numbers with their eyes using dot cards or real objects, and by adding rhythm with counting songs and picture books.
