When my child gives up right away
This is a sign that the difficulty level isn't quite right for your child. Adjust things so items are easy to find and easy to do, and let them experience lots of "I did it!" moments first. Persistence doesn't come from telling a child to "try harder"—it grows from a savings account of small successes. When they find or finish something, celebrate the moment with big, joyful praise.
