How to Play & Interests

When your child dislikes certain textures

Forcing it backfires. Start with play involving textures they like (dry things, smooth things), and approach difficult textures through a tool or with a quick, one-moment touch. Fingertips or the back of the hand are sometimes easier to accept than the palm. If extreme sensitivity is interfering with daily life, consult an OT.
