When my child smiles rarely

Show lots of smiles yourself, and invite laughter with physical play like tickling and "up we go." Some children have a hard time showing expressions because of muscle tone, but inside they're feeling it. Don't miss even a small movement at the corners of the mouth—respond with "You smiled!"
