Eye Contact & Following Gaze
When your child looks away right away
Looking away is also a sign of tiredness, and it's proof they can adjust the amount of stimulation for themselves. Don't blame them—just repeat short interactions frequently. Some children keep their gaze going more easily when it's through a toy they're interested in. If they look away, take a breath and invite them again—it's fine.
