Responding to Sound & Voice

If your child doesn't respond to sound

First, make checking hearing the priority. Even if they passed the newborn hearing screening, hearing can temporarily drop due to things like middle ear infections (children with Down syndrome are especially prone to ear infections). When interacting, it helps to come into their field of view before speaking, and to add vibration or light.
