When your child can't do shape-sorting

Start with the easiest shape, the circle, because a circle doesn't need to be oriented. At first, have the grown-up guide it right up to above the hole, and let your child do just the "drop." For squares and triangles, guide their hand to teach that "turning it around makes it fit." Helping them succeed before they make a mistake is the shortcut to getting better.
