Grasping, Holding & Releasing

When my child's index finger doesn't move independently

Play that involves putting a finger into a hole (finger puppets, toys with buttons to press, playing telephone) is effective. Set up play that makes them want to use just the index finger. It's also good to press "boop" and show them yourself first, then gently place your hand over their index finger and press together.
