Grasping, Holding & Releasing

When posture is unstable

Before fine-motor activities, first set up a stable foundation for posture. Use a chair where the soles of the feet rest firmly on the floor or a footrest, and adjust the desk to the right height. When a child is using their energy to hold their posture, there's none left over for the hands. If your child "does well when supported," that's a sign posture is the cause.
