What if my child doesn't understand colors or sizes?

Colors and sizes are invisible "attributes," so it's natural for them to be learned more slowly than the names of objects. Line up real items and repeat things like "red shoe, blue shoe" for your child to hear. At first it's fine if they can just listen and pick the right one when you say it. Being able to say it themselves can come later.
