When your child doesn't imitate

Even if imitation doesn't appear, keep using gestures without rushing. Guiding their hands from behind to move together (like waving bye-bye) lets them feel the movement in their body. Even if what they manage is incomplete, reacting in a big way with "you got it across!" becomes the driving force for the next imitation.
