Before Words (Babbling & Responses)

When your child doesn't turn around when you call their name

First get into their line of sight, then call their name once their attention is on you. Repeating the flow of call, turn around, something fun happens (like a tickle) builds their response to their name. Calling too many times turns it into "a sound to tune out," so save it for moments when they're likely to be able to respond.
