Before Words (Babbling & Responses)
When your baby babbles very little
In a quiet setting, such as with the TV off, increase "back-and-forth" play where the adult answers the baby's sounds with sounds of their own. Copying and responding as soon as they make a sound teaches them that "making a sound gets something back," and their vocalizing will increase. If the amount or variety of sounds concerns you, it's fine to consult a checkup or an ST.
